Deep Sea Fishing
Deep sea fishing charters off the coast of Palm Beach, Florida is some of the best fishing found in Florida. Whatever your fishing goals are, we can definitely help you achieve them.
Although we are “deep sea” fishing, most of the fishing if done using relatively light tackle. But we will put out the heavier tackle to fight large amberjacks, groupers and sharks. The Tail Hunter is equipped with all the latest fishing equipment and accessories. We use electric kite reels for deep dropping or deploying kites. We update our reels to allow the fastest retrieve and use the most advanced line available. We fish Shimano Tyrnos reels generally 16# to 20# class with a 6.2 to 1 ratio and custom made rods that allow the angler to feel the fish he is catching rather than over power it which in many cases results in a lost fish. Well offshore, you’ll generally find us either trolling or live baiting with a kite when the wind permits. We’ll also use live bait when dropping down to catch large amberjacks, groupers and sharks.
On half-day trips there is not enough time to devote to catching our own live bait so bait options may limited to buying from a bait boat, or resort to other options like fresh bait or artificial lures. Much of the live bait we use is caught at night so we buy it from guys who do nothing but fish for bait at night. Most all fish we target can be caught either trolling or live baiting ,but during the late fall to early spring, live bait is the preferred choice for Palm Beach and points south. Trolling is generally preferred in the summer months.
Deep sea fishing off Palm Beach can produce: sailfish, dolphin, wahoo, king mackerel, snapper, grouper, amberjacks, sharks, black fin tuna and bonita. Although white and blue marlin are caught off Palm Beach, they are not present in the numbers necessary to realistically target in a single day charter.
